The 2020 Toyota Tundra Crewmax has six trims i.e., SR 5, Limited, TDR Pro, Platinum and the 1794 Edition. While almost all the trims are available with a 5.7-litre V8 engine as a standard engine, the SR 5 has it as an optional upgrade. The SR 5 has a 4.6 Liter V8 as a standard engine and hence a low price of $34,250 which is the lowest among all the trims. On the other hand, almost trims have a standard Rear Wheel Drive with an ALL Wheel drive as optional, except for the TDR Pro in which the All-Wheel Drive is a standard feature. However, all the trims have a six-speed automatic transmission.

Which trim to buy?

Though Tundra Crewmax comes with good standard options, you can always upgrade your trucks with various options that the Toyota provides you with. For example, you can choose if you want to go for SR5 but want a bit powerful engine, you can choose the 5.7-litre engine to replace its standard 4.6-litre engine. So all we recommend is to be choosy to get optimum output for what you are going to pay.

When we speak of the engine of the 2020 Toyota Tundra Crewmax, the base model i.e., the SR 5 has a 4.6-litre V8 engine which delivers a horsepower of 310 hp and a torque of 327lb-ft. However, if you desire for more power you can always check out the higher trims with a 5.7-litre V8 engine which is also available in the SR 5 as an optional upgrade.  This engine can deliver a horsepower of 381hp and a torque of 401lb.ft. Now speaking of the transmission, all the trims have 6 automatic speed transmission.

Looking at the competition, though the base trim with the 4.6-litre V8 engine is not upto the mark, the higher trims with the 5.7-litre V8 engine give a tough competition to its competitors such as the Nissan Titan Crew Cab, RAM 2500 Tradesman ant Chevy Silverado2500 HD WT.

Acceleration

The 2020 Tundra Crewmax SR5 with its base 4.6 Liter V8 engine reaches the speed of 60mph in 7.8 seconds. While on the other hand, the higher with the 5.7-liter V8 engines can accomplish the same in 6.4 seconds. 

The result of the competition is same again. While the base model cannot stand the competition, the higher trim gives a tough competition to its competitors except that of the RAM 2500 Tradesman.

Ride and Handling

Nissan Titan Crew Cab Vs Toyota Tundra

The 2020 Nissan Titan Crew Cab comes with 5.6 litre V8 that produces a robust 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque and accelerates the truck to 60 seconds in 6 seconds. Thus it has an upper hand on the Tundra Crew max with the 4.6 litre V8. In fact, in terms of fuel economy, it is less thirsty than the Crewmax. However, when we look at other aspects such as the braking, cargo and towing capacity, for which these trucks are specially used for The Tundra has the upper hand. Although if you want to go for the optional 5.7L V8, it would be a tough competitor for the Titan.

RAM 2500 Tradesman Crew Cab Vs Toyota Tundra

The 2020 RAM 2500 Tradesman has a very powerful 5.7-litre V8 engine, its performance is less due to its heavyweight. This is where the Crewmax beats the 2500 Tradesman. However, its towing and cargo capacity is higher than the Crewmax. 

Chevy Silverado 2500 HD WT Vs Toyota Tundra

The 2020 Chevy Silverado has a powerful 6-litre V8 engine, but despite its heavyweight, it gives a good performance when compared to the Crewmax. In fact, it also has better towing and cargo capacity. However, it’s thirstier than the Crewmax in terms of fuel economy.

The 2020 Toyota Tundra Crewmax precisely has all the qualities of a fair Crew Cab. Still, it’s better to opt for the 5.7 litres V8 variant over the 4.6 Liter V8, as it performs better at a very little or the same price depending on whether you require a rear-wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive.
