Expected Price and Release Date of the 2021 Toyota Camry

There has not been any official word about the release date of the 2021 Toyota Camry, still, it is expected of Toyota to drop this car in the showrooms in mid-September or in early October. Although the launch patterns of Toyota are pretty much consistent, the pandemic may delay the release of this particular car.

Talking about the pricing for 2021 model year, it is expected to cost from about $25,500 to $37,000 without including the add on packages that Toyota offers, the pricing for the different trims may vary a little bit and is expected to go up in the 2021 Toyota Camry but still Toyota is going to provide a value for money car for this year as well.

2021 Toyota Camry Engine and Performance

What’s under the hood of the 2021 Toyota Camry?

Well, the Camry might seriously miss some of the contents under the hood. The 2021 Toyota Camry is expected to miss two cylinders (V6) which were offered with the 2020 model. Well, it's not an intuitive or sadistic decision, but it's what the customers liked. 96% of the people that bought the Camry in 2020 opted for the 4 cylinder option so it was not too surprising of Toyota to present the 4 cylinder model in the 2021 Toyota Camry. This car comes with a 4 cylinder engine that cranks out 203 horsepower and 183 lb-ft of torque.

Well, that is definitely not too shabby for this sedan, although you can get a more punchy drive in the TRD trim which gives you 310 horsepower to play with. The transmission on the 2021 Toyota Camry is 8 speed automatic and is standardized for all the variants. This added on with the AWD available with the Camry just gives exceptional ride quality and good performance.

Well if we let the spec sheet talk the naturally aspirated inline-4 on the 2021 Toyota Camry takes the show home and is clearly ahead in terms of the horses that it puts out.

How quick is the 2021 Toyota Camry?

The Camry is quite decent in picking up speed on the road. With a 0-60 mph speed of around 7.6 seconds, there’s not much complaining you could do. The engine and transmission work really well and put these numbers out. Well, the weight of the car has to do a great deal in this scenario. Being lighter by at least a few hundred pounds than the others really gives the 2021 Toyota Camry an edge.

Also, the quarter-mile time for the 2021 Toyota Camry is 15.7 seconds which is also great for this kind of a sedan. The engine sound is relaxed and the car has a decent road presence as well. Let’s see how the 2021 Toyota Camry stacks up against competition from the 2020 model year:-

The performance in terms of acceleration Is pretty much decent against the comparisons, although the Honda Accord wins in terms of acceleration the 2021 Toyota Camry is not leagues behind.

How well does the 2021 Toyota Camry brake?

The 2021 Toyota Camry being lightweight has a really good stopping distance. With a stopping distance for 70-0 mph of 122 feet, it stands tall amongst its competitors as well. There are 4 ABS channels in the new 2021 Toyota Camry which help it get these numbers up here. The car also has front ventilated disc brakes which are really effective when talking about a sedan like this.

Also, the higher trims come with driveline traction control which helps a lot in driving as well as braking the car. The front rotors are 12iches in size and the rear rotors are 11 inches in size and with the ventilated disc brake system the stopping is quick but not as jerky.

How well does the 2021 Toyota Camry Handle?

Well, the 2021 Toyota Camry runs as smooth as butter on the roads. There are a few things that help the manufacturer achieve that. These are the suspension, the wheels, the transmission, and the drivetrain. Well to talk about the suspension of the 2021 Toyota Camry, they are one of the best in the sedan market for sure, and also with the really good coil springs in both the front and rear wheels is what makes the suspension even better. Moving to talk about the wheels on the 2021 Toyota Camry, it comes with 16-inch alloy wheels with the P205/65VR16.0 BSW AS tires which just works fine on even snow-covered tracks.

2021 Toyota Camry Handle

Now coming to the drivetrain, the 2021 Toyota Camry does come with the AWD which works great if you’re stuck in the mud or snow. But the AWD does take away a few horsepower and a few MPG off the car, but still gives the plush yet smooth ride.

2021 Toyota Camry Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is something that this car has been doing well since it was launched. Even this year the Camry gives an average fuel economy reading of 34 MPG which is great. Also, the MPG readings for city and highway are 29 and 42 respectively. As you can notice the mpg on the highway is very high and beats all the competition. One of the most obvious things about the 2021 Toyota Camry is that the fuel economy drops when you opt for the AWD both in the city and the highway which results in an average of 28 mpg combined.

2021 Toyota Camry Interior

How comfortable is the 2021 Toyota Camry?

The Interior is something that Toyota does take care of. Well, it has been making practical cars since it started and hence it knows how to take care of the customer’s needs. Firstly you notice the modular design of the interior as soon as you step inside the car. The buttons are placed thoroughly inside the cabin with a lot of attention to ergonomics.

Talking about the seats, the seats are ventilated bucket seats with the heated steering wheel. The ventilation works really fine with buttons to control it on the central console. The seats are firm yet comfortable and give support to the back while driving. The seats are of cloth upholstery with rear bench seats which are foldable. The adjustment done is manual, which is pretty outdated and bizarre. The design is sleek and there is not a lot of luxurious touch to it but you can surely upgrade it to leather upholstery if that’s really what you’re looking for.

Taking a look at the space, the car has really spacious interiors and provides enough legroom and headroom. A six-footer can be easily seated with comfort. The 2021 Toyota  Camry is essentially a 5 seater but if you want, there is a pull-down armrest in the back as well.

You can fit a large suitcase and also even a golf club bag inside the trunk, which is what Toyota has to offer in terms of functionality. The rear bench is foldable which increases the trunk space by a lot.

The cabin space Is managed really well by giving a lot of spaces to fit your stuff in. the central console has two cup holders and the armrest has plenty of storage underneath. Also, the charging dock resides in the armrest cubby and still offers quite a lot of space for miscellaneous items. The rear bench has a pull-down armrest where you will find two cup holders. 2021 Toyota Camry Exterior

How good is the exterior design?

The exterior of the 2021 Toyota Camry is really beautiful and sporty. The car hasn’t undergone a facelift and doesn’t have a lot of major changes. The daytime running headlamps are an addition to the previous models and also the front fascia has matte black grille which looks really great.

There are two air intake vents on the fender which gives the car some downforce and makes it stick to the ground very well. Also, the rear end has an active spoiler which provides the car the necessary aerodynamics which helps in the car’s performance as well. Here is how the dimension of the car compares to its competition from the model year 2020:-

2021 Toyota Camry Competition

2021 Honda Accord vs the 2020 Toyota Camry

The 2021 Toyota Camry has an outstanding performance in its class and is second to none but still faces quite the competition from the 2021 Honda Accord. With better acceleration, the 2021 Honda Accord takes a lead here. But the 2021 Toyota Camry is the best in terms of fuel economy, braking, trunk capacity, safety features, and even the interior quality.

The 2021 Honda accord is also a great choice in terms of a sedan but the 2021 Toyota Camry is still the best in its class.

 2021 Honda Accord

2020 Ford Fusion vs 2021 Toyota Camry

The ford fusion stands beaten in most if not all the criteria against the Camry, which is an all-rounder. The clear choice over the ford is the 2021 Toyota Camry.

Ford has a reputation in the automobile industry which is why the build quality of the ford exceeds that of Toyota. Still having more luxury as compared to actual practicality in a class like this is meaningless. That is why the 2021 Toyota Camry wins.

2020 Ford Fusion

2020 Nissan Altima vs the 2021  Toyota Camry

The Nissan Altima faces the same fate as the ford and stands very well defeated by the Camry.

Although the Nissan is also an all-rounder the braking just isn't too good and it does pretty much average in the rest of the criteria. On being compared to the 2021 Toyota Camry, it feels like something not as good quality and hence stands beaten.

2020 Nissan Altima

2021 Toyota Camry Final Verdict

What should you expect from the 2021 Toyota Camry?

2021 Toyota Camry has the best performance, fuel economy, storage capacity, interior design, and safety features in its class. This is what makes the 2021 Toyota Camry the best choice for the person who’s looking for an overall family sedan.
