Earlier, Porsche confirmed that the upcoming Macan SUV will be offered in at least two forms: conventional petrol and a new-generation, electric-powered model. The Porsche Macan range includes many variants including the Macan, Macan S, Macan S Diesel, Macan GTS, and the Macan Turbo.
The current-generation Macan offers two engine options- a 2.0-Liter turbo-4 and turbo-6, mated with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and an all-wheel-drive system. We’ll closely look into the 2021 Porsche Macan and find how it is going to be a game changer in the compact luxury segment.

Engine and Performance
The Porsche Macan is available in two trims viz, base variant, or Macan, which comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, while the other, Macan S, is powered by a turbocharged V6. The basic model produces 248 hp with its 2.0L engine while the S model pumps out a massive 348 hp. Both models come with an all-wheel-drive unit and a 10.9-inch touchscreen as standard, while other features like leather-trim and more premium sound-system are optional.

What’s the Expected Price and Release Date of the 2021 Porsche Macan?
The 2021 Porsche Macan is expected to be available at the starting price of $52,000 for the base model and the Macan S model will be available at an estimated price of $63,900. The 2021 Macan S model will see a significant shift in the price due to the upgraded powertrain. The production for the Macan EV would commence at the end of 2022 and will be available in the market by 2024.
There are no reports of any changes in the new engine, it is expected that the 2021 Macan will carry-forward the same base four-cylinder and a six-cylinder variant as its current-gen model, its 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine pumps out 248 hp and 273 lb-ft and for 2021 Macan S model, we can expect a new 3.0L turbocharged V-6 engine that pumps out 363 hp and 368 lb-ft.
The current Porsche Macan engines are paired to a PDK dual-clutch transmission, the Macan base version can go to zero to sixty seconds in 6.3 seconds which is better than the 2020 Volvo XC60, the top speed of Porsche Macan base model is 141 mph.

All SUVs in this segment have almost the same engine capacity but its performance makes it differ, Mercedes have the most power it pumps out 255 hp, Volvo follows Mercedes in power, it pumps out 248 hp. The Porsche and BMW seem to be the same in the power section but still, Porsche has more torque in comparison.
We expect the 2021 Porsche Macan base can accelerate from zero to sixty mph in 6.3 seconds, which is unchanged from its 2020 model. The 2021 Macan base top speed would be restricted to 141 mph, its transmission plays a significant role to assist the engine to pump out more power in every gear, while the 2020 Macan S model can go 0-60 mph within 5.1 seconds credit goes to its V-6 turbo engine.

The BMW X3 is the fastest to cross 0-60 mph in the least time among its rivals, credit goes to its well-tuned engine while Mercedes gives a neck to neck competition to BMW in the 0-60 dash. However, both cars can complete the quarter-mile mark at the same time. The Porsche seems to struggle a bit in the 0-60 dash but still does well in the quarter-mile mark.
The 2020 Porsche Macan which weighs 4099 lbs provides a better braking system as compared to its other counterparts such as Mercedes Benz GLC 300 and BMW X3. The braking system would probably not likely be changed for the 2021 Porsche Macan model. The current Porsche Macan model front wheels have 13.6-inch rotors and 13-inch rotors in the rear which give the appropriate brake power to stop the car.
Overall the braking system is linear enough to prevent any major road accident.

The Porsche Macan seems to be the heaviest car in its segment behind Volvo XC30 but its front and rear brakes give Macan edge over its rivals. In the braking section, Porsche Macan is a winner followed by BMW and the Volvo XC60.
In the handling section, Porsche would never let us down due to the fact that Porsche has fairly emphasis on handling and driving dynamics which helped Porsche to gain a good reputation in the market. The Macan also performs well in handling, despite being quite heavier in its segment, this SUV handles well similar to a decent sports car which makes it more thrilling.
The Porsche Macan’s body roll is least while striking a corner. The SUV is not a proper off-roader but fairly handles on broken roads and extreme weather. The optional height-adjustable with two-chamber air suspension assists in making the handling better.
Porsche Macan doesn’t offer the best fuel economy as it inevitably is not very fuel-efficient. The 2020 Porsche Macan base carries estimates of 19 mpg city and 23 mpg highway which is lower than its rivals. Due to the fact that the Porsche Macan is a heavier model further affects its MPG ratings. Since, we won’t get any engine upgrade for the 2021 model, the MPG ratings would be similar to the current model. Nevertheless, the Porsche Macan offers a decent 19.8-gallon fuel tank which is the biggest in its segment.

The figures above show that the Porsche Macan does not seem to be a fuel-efficient SUV. Although Macan has the biggest fuel tanks among its rivals. In the Fuel economy section, BMW X3 shows better MPG ratings followed by Volvo XC60 and Mercedes Benz GLC 300.
The Macan’s standard interior is not at par in a crossover of this price, the rear-seats space for passengers is also not good enough then its competitors, although the power-adjustable seats at the front-end are very comfortable and it will surely give you a luxurious feel. The option of Leather trim interior for a substantial price of $2330 for covering the center console feels gouging.
Nevertheless, for the 2021 Porsche Macan we expect extra luxuries and leather trim for this premium Porsche. The current Macan offers a puny cargo hold and small interior cubbies which makes it less practical and for the 2021 Model, we expect it to remain the same.

The BMW X3 gives you more cabin space followed by Mercedes, Though the second row of the GLC 300 is the more spacious, Porsche Macan doesn’t seem to do well in the availability of space.
We expect the same infotainment system is likely to be transferred in the 2021 Porsche Macan, The standard 10.9 high-definition touchscreen which is quite intuitive and fairly placed in the center of the dashboard to provide the user interface for the Porsche Communication Management System(PCM). It fairly executes graphics and quick reaction time.
However, for 2021 Porsche Macan will carry forward all its high-tech features, which include Apple Carplay, Panoramic Roof, and Wireless device charging. The standard 10-speaker stereo system would be replaced with a better premium 14-speaker Bose surround-sound stereo.
Some of the key infotainment features which will be carried forward to the 2021 Porsche Macan are listed below:
In the utility part, Porsche Macan doesn’t fit the bill, it offers 17.6 cu.ft. of cargo space and maximum space of 52.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded which is the least in its class, the cargo space is much like the rear seats is not as sufficient as an SUV should be, those puny cargo hold and small interior cubbies affect the practicality of the Macan.

The Volvo XC60 dominates in the cargo section, with its spacious boot space taking the win in this comparison. The BMW is also offering a best in class boot space, Mercedes GLC comes third here as it doesn’t compete with Volvo and BMW due to its lower storage capacity and the Porsche Macan offers the least space.
What are the other storage spaces inside?
The Porsche Macan has various cubby holes scattered around the interior, which includes front and rear cup-holders, door bins on all four doors, and a central storage area located between the two front seats.
Porsche gave the Macan an exterior tweak back in 2019 and the 2020 Macan remains unchanged. The next-gen Macan’s development is still underway. Though dimensionally 2021, Porsche Macan would probably be similar to its 2020 version yet some visual tweaks will come in handy to differentiate the 2021 and 2020 Version. We can expect the 2021 Macan would be attractive-especially with larger wheels and wide tires that boost up its performance, The 2021 gas-powered Porsche Macan is expected to ride on Audi’s MLB platform, while the electric model will switch to the Volkswagen group’s premium Platform Electric(PPE) architecture- making the most of the advantages that come with a purpose-designed electric vehicle platform.
From the front, we expect the Macan gets the typical Porsche styling with the downward diving hood paired with the LED headlights alongside and wide air intakes with outer vents make the Macan look commanding. Its sides have been neatly carved with a minimalistic approach to enhance presence. At the rear, We expect the same 2020 Macan 3D LED taillights that give it an exquisite look and make the Macan look sportier. The dual exhaust setup looks rather stunning housed within the diffuser.

The Macan is the heaviest (behind Volvo XC60) and the widest SUV in this segment and has a short wheelbase that assists to make it handle better. The Volvo offers better ground clearance in this segment and Mercedes have the least ground clearance of all yet it has the bigger wheelbase, BMW is the longest among all. Nevertheless, come behind Macan in terms of weight.
It is expected that there are not going to be many changes other than some elusive tweaks in the 2021 Porsche Macan, the new model would be as safe as the current-generation Porsche Macan. The 2020 Porsche Model has plenty of safety and driver assistant features which we expect to be carried forward on the 2021 Porsche Macan model. The Macan has not been crash-tested by NHTSA or the IIHS, so it’s quite difficult to have an official take on the safety. But still, this Porsche gets enough safety features to ensure total security for all its passengers. Some 2021 Macan safety features are listed below:
The BMW X3 manages to exceed Porsche in various comparisons, it's faster and more fuel-efficient and also offers high-range. The cabin space of BMW X3 is also considerable and its boot is the biggest in this segment. The cost of the BMW X3 is also less than Porsche Macan.
Mercedes have been in the luxury SUV segment for a long time now. The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 is a big SUV which offers you more practicality which the Macan can’t match up and other utilitarian benefits that Macan lacks. In terms of performance, the GLC 300 surpasses Macan. The more spacious second row and less expensive price tag make the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 a winner in this head to head comparison in our books.
The Volvo XC60 provides decent engine performance and is comparably quicker in relation to the Macan in its base avatar. It also offers decent fuel economy, has good braking performance, has spacious and decent interiors and to top it off it costs 12K USD less than the Macan. Between the two, you could be well off with an XC60.
The Porsche Macan offers fairly premium features; it has a powerful engine, great handling, and comfortable interiors even so it lacks space. The Volvo XC60 and BMW X3 offer you better utility. The Porsche Macan is also more costly than its rivals but for the luxury features on offer, the costlier Macan justifies itself. If you could compromise on the utility part and demand for an impressive engine performance then look no other car except the new Porsche Macan.
