If you are the kind of person who likes to be driven around rather than drive, and looks for the amount of comfort and features a car has to offer rather than the price tag then you surely have kept the Mercedes-Maybach in your list of shortlisted vehicles as it comes with the finest appointments money can buy.

The Maybach’s palatial rear seats come with all the comfort and features that are needed to make the chauffeured journey an unmitigated delight. Made for the limousine living and costing thousands of dollars more than the Mercedes siblings are the best choice for people who want ultra-luxury transportation that leans toward understatement may find this to be a perfect match.

Competing with the rivals like BMW Alpina B7, and Bentley Flying Spur, the teasers and spy shots of the Maybach are making rounds on the internet hyping up the world of high-status riders making them curious about what the 2021 model is going to bring in.

What’s new with the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach Sedan?

  • Finally bidding farewell to the old W222 platform, the new Maybach sedan will be based on the new W223 platform giving rest to the old and classic platform and ending its reign.
  • Based on the new platform the Maybach for the 2021 model year is fully redesigned and carries new accents for the interior as well as the exterior
  • Loaded with the best technology and features and all the top class luxury comforts there is nothing that this ride misses leaving no bit of doubt for the customers.
  • To give the Maybach a much more suave and sharper look, the headlights on the new model are sleeker and the front grille that will be featured on the car will be the new vertical grille, but in a smaller size that is the new trademark of the new modern-day Maybachs.
  • It will also be made with a longer wheelbase, longer even than previous years' longer wheelbase S-Class.

What is the expected price and release date of the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach Sedan?

Just like the previous launches that have taken place for the Mercedes-Maybach, the launch for the New 2021 Maybach which is based on the W223 platform will take place in the latter half of the year 2021. Whenever Mercedes releases the moniker a grand event takes place. The price of the Maybach is not yet revealed but it is speculated to be around the $200,000 mark.

Generally, the Maybach is revealed to the world to see at grand events like the LA Auto Show or the Geneva Motor show, but this year due to the ongoing pandemic the Maybach is likely to be revealed through online live streaming, as most of the motor shows are canceled and Mercedes wants to keep things safe and sound for everyone.

What to expect from the engine department of the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach Sedan?

The 2020 model of this luxury chariot was powered by a 4.4L bi-turbo V8 that managed to produce a total power output of 463 horses with 516 lb-ft of torque. The power to distribute to all the four wheels with the help of a 9-speed automatic which is mated to the engine and does an incredibly fine job.

The 2021 model, however, is expected to give the rest to the powerful V12 and come in with the new age hybrid system that will be put in place with the V8 in order to increase the total power output of the engine. Rumors of the fact that the Maybach might be powered by this same combination that is put inside the new 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS which puts out 550 hp.

The Maybach stands in between the two on the rivals but is adequately powerful and is expected to either overtake or be as powerful as the Bentley. Mercedes Benz is yet to announce the official figures of the Maybach.

The Maybach takes 4.6 seconds to glide till 60 MPH which is faster than the more powerful BMW and just a little shy of the Bentley and it is expected to close this gap for the 2021 model year.

How does the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach Handle?

As the Mercedes-Maybach is set to be based on the new W223 platform the driving dynamics are expected to change a little, but the Maybach already had the most perfect ride comfort as saloon cars like these focus on mostly three things interior space, luxury and driving comfort. The ride in the 2020 model year was as smooth as magic carpet and clouds.

The AIRMATIC system managed to compensate for the addition of extra weight in the car, and the steering was light at slow speed and gradually grows harder as speed increases. When the Maybach is put up on tight turns you will be surprised to know how it manages the body roll and does not put up any drama, it likes to push its nose to the curb.

How many miles to the gallon will the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach deliver?

When you manage to grab hold of one of the expensive beasts like the Mercedes-Maybach, one thing that does not bother you is the fuel economy of the vehicle. Only a few people get to grab holds of these luxury chariots like the Alpina, or the Maybach, and when they do they always make sure to keep their tanks full.

The Maybach for the 2020 model year still manages to put up decent MPG figures, 16 MPG in the city 25 MPG on the highway, and a combined figure of 19 MPG which is more than what most of the rivals offer.

The Maybach offers decent figures and while being powerful it still manages to be quite economical considering the performance and the massive size of the saloon. The Bentley has the largest tank among the rivals but still, the MPG figures will push you to make a few more fuel stops on longer journeys.

What to expect from the interior of the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach Sedan?

Maybach has one of the most comfortable and spacious interiors of the saloon cars. While it is not yet known that new features and comforts the new 2021 Maybach will carry inside let us get a brief idea about what we can expect from it.

When you step inside the Maybach you will be welcomed to a world of luxury, seated in the Nappa leather-wrapped seats, and the same leather-wrapped steering wheel and the center console which runs through the length of the car with wood inlays. The thing that attracts most and makes people fall in love with is the dual-tone upholstery and the contrast stitching inside. You also get metal elements in the dash, with some real silver coating on some of them. You get every bit of luxury for every penny you spend on this.

Mercedes manages to give the Maybach decent space inside the cabin both for the driver as well as the passenger on the rear. It manages to keep up with the rivals and as the new model is based on a whole new platform and is longer than even the longest wheelbase models it is sure to overtake the rivals. The only thing where it lacks behind is the luggage space which stands at a mere 12.3 which is quite less for the class.

2021 Mercedes-Maybach Sedan: Infotainment System and Connectivity

Mercedes makes sure to load the Maybach with all the latest tech and comfort that can practically fit inside the car. The list of the features that the car has is so long that you might want to take notes! Stand out features like a rear sunshade, side-window sunshades, brake HOLD system, illuminated entry system, cabin air purification system and a 115V household-type power outlet are some of the most noticeable features that are present inside the car.

Apart from these features you can also choose from the list of add-on features and add a lot more functionality. You can choose from a choice of options like Handcrafted Champagne flute, a refrigerator in the rear cabin to heated and cooled cup holders.

The center console of the car can not only be managed by the driver via the steering wheel controls but even by the passenger sitting on the back seat with the center console controls. The infotainment screen is a crisp 12.3 inch HD screen and runs the latest iteration of the MBUX.

Will there be any changes to the Exterior of the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach?

The 2020 Model of the Maybach sedan was based on the sibling which is the S-class and only the trained eyes were the first to spot the difference which is present of the front grille which are the sets of two fine vertical chrome vanes and the elegantly lengthened body.

The headlights are a set of multi-element LED lamps that feature the famous Maybach stardust effect and the triple-band daytime running lights. There is a wide range of wheels to choose from and the sizes range from 19-20 inches. The Magic sky roof feature is also available which darkens or lightens the glass roof by the flip of a switch.

As expected the new model is based on the all-new W223 platform, so the basic design and changes are expected to be more than just minor design changes and as the overall length and size will change so will the design language of the new vehicle. The design is expected to become even more sophisticated and elegant.
