The midsize and the overall SUV community is at its growth peak in 2020. People opting for practicality and power instead of luxury has brought a turning point in the automobile industry. And we can only imagine how far developed this idea will get. Not just to ride the surge of overly popular SUVs but to also provide a great vehicle line-up for the 2021 SUV line-up, Chevrolet has brought in the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. A banger in terms of functionality, cabin ergonomics, and power, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe packs a punch. With masculine exteriors and extreme build quality, this car is made to last.

Overtime SUVs have become popular among big car buyers who look for power, performance and roomier cabin. The Chevrolet Tahoe is one such SUV that has some resemblance to the powerful Silverado 1500 truck. The new 2021 Chevy Tahoe is completely redesigned and offers an array of features. Chevrolet is offering three engine options, which we’ll look into just a little later, but the most highly rated in terms of raw power is the massive 6.3L V8 which cranks out about 420 horsepower at 460 lb-ft of torque.

Interestingly, the V8 powertrain is only available in the topmost variant, but if you’re a sucker of power, then that 8 cylinder set-up is not going to disappoint you at all. You also have both the rear wheel (RWD) and the all-wheel-drive (AWD) in this SUV. Moreover, the major upgrades in this car include the bettor comfort, improved safety features, and unparalleled trunk space. The exterior is sporty and looks great. The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is made to go for off-roading as well, so if you’re a rally junkie, this might be the ideal car for you. Without any further ado, let's jump straight into the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe review.

What’s New with the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

  • Completely redesigned exterior and interior
  • Resembles closely to the latest Silverado 1500 pickup truck
  • Tunes rear suspension gets independent setup
  • Improved interior space compared to the outgoing model

What’s the expected price and release date of 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

For 2021, the Chevy Tahoe has undergone some significant upgrade and so has the pricing. The expected pricing of the Tahoe will be around $49,000 and goes up to $70,598 for the top-spec trim- High Country. Comparatively, the 2020 Chevy Tahoe was priced in the range of $50,295 to $75,250. The prices for the new model will witness minimal changes while there are an array of available options. The 2021 Tahoe is expected to launch by the end of September 2020.

What to expect in the engine department of 2021 Chevy Tahoe?

The performance of this SUV is really menacing. With a standard 5.2L V8 engine which pushes up to 355 horsepower at around 383 lb-ft of torque the amount of power you get is actually impressive. Talking about engine numbers, there are two other variants available. The first one being the massive 6.3L V8 engine that pours out around 420 horsepower at 460 lb-ft of torque, is a serious upgrade for this vehicle. A new addition to the engine lineup is the Duramax turbo-diesel engine made 270 horsepower on 460 lb-ft of torque. With these specs, the Tahoe is going to compete with Nissan Armada SUV, Land Rover Discovery SE SUV, Toyota Land Cruiser SUV.

Moving on to the transmission, for 2021 Chevrolet has made the standard transmission to be the 10 speed automatic instead of the 6 speed from last year. That is quite an upgrade in terms of ride quality and performance boost. You still have the RWD and the AWD as the two drivetrain options. Also speaking of what's under the hood, you cannot skip how quick the car is. Even with the heavy body, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe can go from 0-60 mph in just 5.1 seconds, which is incredible. Also, the quarter-mile time is 15.2 seconds which is bad at all. The masculine design of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe doesn’t stop It from hiding these impressive tricks up its sleeves.

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe gives out some of the best numbers in terms of performance. With the 355 horsepower engine, it ranks better in terms of horsepower than the much expensive land rover discovery. Also, the standard 10-speed automatic is pretty amazing as this is much smoother than the 6-speed automatic available on the 2020 trims. The overall best performer in today’s particular line-up is the Nissan armada and at the price, it also impresses.

How many miles to the gallon will the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe deliver?

Fuel economy has been the strong point of almost all if not all of the Chevrolet SUVs we’ve seen so far. This apple doesn't fall far from that lineage and reputation. With decent mpg scores for both city and highway, it makes it to the top in terms of practicality. A normal day at work or going across the states with this beast, it can handle it all without slimming your wallet too much. The average mpg score in the city setting is 15 and in the highway setting is 22, Which brings the combined mpg score of 18 which is not bad at all. with the power it outputs and the heavy body those are some good numbers.

These numbers are achieved by the latest dynamic fuel management of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Basically what it means is when you’re not using the fuel capacity of the engine, the cylinders are made to shut down that affects the stroke and less fuel is injected to the engine. this system succeeds in active fuel management and is much better than them. However, this dynamic fuel management was brought in by general motors and is hence derived from there but enhanced in the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Here is a list of how the competitors compare in terms of fuel economy to the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe:-

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe gives the best fuel economy in the SUV section. The Nissan armada and the Toyota land cruiser both have less fuel economy, but that is expected to come with the massive power outputs. The tank size of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is also unbeaten in this segment. Chevrolet is not cutting corners In terms of functionality on this one.

What to expect from the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's interior?

The three-row cabin, which can seat around 7-9 passengers is the selling point of this midsize SUV. No compromises have been done with comfort whatsoever. Even after having three rows, space doesn’t feel cramped at all and lets you stretch your muscles when you want to. The cabin layout is great and the materials used do not look cheap, and you sure wouldn’t expect that from a $50,000 SUV.

Moving on to the seating, as mentioned there are three rows, the seats are made of leather and are heated, but not ventilated. There is abundant usage of leather all around in the car’s cabin. The passengers are fully power-assisted and the third row is a bench-style that Is foldable and helps in creating extra storage. The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe has paid special attention to details and also kept the level of comfort and craftsmanship, to rich Chevrolet standards. The car is really spaced out, with the extended wheelbase for the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, the car is really lengthy and the 221 model offers 10 inches of legroom in the last row as well. The car has dual-zone climate control and is really efficient in cooling the car throughout.

The ergonomics of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is really on point except when it comes to the business end of this vehicle. There are just too many buttons in the driver’s proximity, which really takes away the attention from the road to operate. There are two levels of door bins, which may be an overkill to some aspect, but you can’t go wrong with more storage space, the dashboard feels really premium with the leather stitching. Just adjacent to the infotainment screen you have a small cubby to store anything.

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is the king in terms of space and comfort. With tons of legroom and headroom, there is no way you’re going to feel uncomfortable or cramped ever. The added third row in this midsize SUV is a bonus on top of the already available convenience. The interior feels extravagant and is really well built. Chevrolet has done a great job of bringing the best out of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The other important factor of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is the cargo space that it offers. With a maximum of 123 cubic feet of cargo space, you’re clear to hoard anything you wish in this giant. The car has been oozed with practicality all over with various secondary storage spaces, apart from the trunk.

What about the Chevrolet Tahoe’s infotainment system?

The infotainment system has been revamped from the 2020 model. The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe hosts a massive 10-inch touch screen display as the primary screen. With the smart device integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the overall experience is immersive and snappy. The system itself is responsive and feels really easy to use. Also, the speaker setup is of standard 6 speakers which you can upgrade to the premium Bose speaker setup which is just awesome.

The notable features of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe’s infotainment are:

  • 6 speakers
  • 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot capable

Will there be any changes to the exterior of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

The 2021 Tahoe model is expected to come with a whole lot of changes. The front fascia has a revamped look with the massive gloss-black grille and the headlights are just blending into the grille. The daytime running LED is not made circling the headlamp, but a very modern C shaped design under the actual headlamp. The Chevrolet Bowtie is also black to blend in with the all-black theme of the front grille. Contrasting that is the bright red tow hook which looks really good.

Strong body lines and a more muscular and heavy looking exterior are what the car looks like on first glance. The wheelbase is greater than its predecessor which makes the interior spacious as well. The rear fascia also looks sleek with the chrome accents and the LED tail lights which just makes it even more aesthetically pleasing. Overall the car is very well built and you can tell that just by laying your eyes on this beast. Few major changes have been made but that just uplifts the car in terms of practicality as well as aesthetics.

The ground clearance on the base model is just 7.9 inches which is the lowest we can see on the list, but a more off-road capable trim, the ZL we get extra 2 inches of ground clearance for better off-road protection. The Nissan armada is a much bulkier car with respect to the Chevrolet Tahoe.

Will the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe be worth it?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is for those who want the SUV experience along with great practicality and convenience. The overall exterior design is fresh and looks great. The bold front fascia makes the car even more masculine. Fitted with the latest technology features, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is one of the best midsize SUVs available out there.
