The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is a mid-size truck that offers a powerful engine and is perfect for some heavy lifting be it on the road or off it. We have seen the Chevrolet Colorado since 2012 and now it is in its second-generation. With the removal of the base extended cab variant from the lineup, it saw a price bump of 4 grand. With a base price tag of 26,395 USD, it will most likely be on sale in early 2021.

The Chevrolet Colorado, along with its GMC Canyon counterpart, has been in production by General Motors since 2003. As it's been so many years since the model has been redesigned, one might expect that it has become outdated and unpopular. However, this model remains competitive and is consistently ranked as one of the better compact pickup truck models.

We have very limited options in the compact pickup trucks segment but the Chevrolet Colorado ranks well compared to the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. It is one of the best compact truck options but we see better options in the market. Let’s see what to expect and when to expect the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab.

What’s new with the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab?

  • Revised Front Fascia
  • Base trim has been removed from the trim lineup
  • 3 new colors introduced
  • Upgraded Audio System
  • New 17-inch wheels

What’s the expected price and release date of the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab?

Since the base extended cab variant has been dropped from the lineup, the starting price for upcoming Colorado is expected to be around 26,400USD. It is expected to launch in early 2021.

What to expect in the engine department of the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado?

We do not expect to see any changes under the hood, mechanically it will remain unchanged it will most likely be offered with the same two engine options as its predecessor. The base 2.5L NA inline-4 churns about 200hp power and 191 lb-ft torque. It comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and is available in RWD configuration. Next up is an available 3.6L V6 engine that makes up to 308 horsepower. Transmission duties are taken up by the 8 speed automatic and it comes in 4WD configuration.

The vehicle can also be optioned with a 181 horsepower turbo diesel engine which will be reviewed separately. It is undoubtedly the best engine lineup offered in this segment, which brings us to the class-leading towing capacity and also Colorado’s class-leading fuel-efficiency. Even if GM decides to redesign the Chevrolet Colorado, the engine options will likely be left unchanged.

2020 Ford Ranger is the most powerful of the lot and when we compare the pricing of these car’s we do not see much of a difference. So the Ford Ranger tops the list in this particular segment as it makes for a great value proposition and to top it off it comes equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

How will the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab handle?

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab makes for a great off-roader. Its tall stance and higher ride height enable it to tackle tracks quite adeptly. Also while off-roading you will not mind bouncing around in this muscle car which happens anyway all the time of its independent front suspension and leaf-spring rear axle of the car.

The suspension setup on the Colorado crew Cab translates most blows from underneath into the cabin. At the same time, the tall height returns a top-heavy feel and the steering for this off-roader is a bit of a task. The steering wheel is well weighted which makes it more comfortable for off-roading.

How many miles to the gallon will the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab deliver?

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado offers some of the best MPG figures in this segment. We do not expect any major changes in the fuel economy in the upcoming model. The four-cylinder base engine of the current Chevrolet Colorado model gets an estimated 20 city and 26 highway miles per gallon.

The Ford Ranger has the least fuel capacity and provides a better fuel efficiency amongst the competition. Whereas, Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon carry the largest fuel capacity and they offer the same MPG (city). The 2020 Toyota Tacoma offers the best fuel tank capacity amongst the rest of the competitors.

What to expect from the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab’s interior?

When we look at the current Chevrolet Colorado, the interiors of the car are outdated and will need a makeover. But the interior is not in the priority list of the brand, so it is most likely to remain unchanged and carried forward for the 2021 model year except a few minor details The front seats of the Chevrolet Colorado provide a capacious cockpit. On the other hand, when we see the rear seats, they are tight and do not provide much comfort.

The car provides a deep center-console bin and a massive compartment under the crew cab's rear seat provides a fair amount of cabin storage. Some notable interior features in the Colorado Crew cab include Climate control, Heated front seats, Heated steering wheel, Keyless entry, Power-adjustable driver seats.

For the 2021 model, there will be no major changes in the infotainment section.
