The 3500HD in the Silverado range of Trucks usually symbolizes High Towing and Hauling capabilities. The 2020 version on sale is no different. Towing Capacity is a massive 23,300lbs from the Duramax Turbo V8 motor which makes it one of the best in class.
The 6.6L V8 Turbo Duramax Diesel motor uses cast Iron cylinder block which helps it deal with heat much better than its aluminum built counterparts. It produces a massive 445HP and a massive 910lbs-ft of Torque which even though it isn’t segment-leading but is very much close to those levels.

The engineers at Chevrolet chose Allison, the brand which makes transmissions for military tanks to make the transmission for the Silverado 3500HD diesel to handle the gigantic torque generated by the diesel motor. This transmission has been extensively tried and tested over time and is a potent transmission.
Acceleration
The 6.6L V8 Motor is no Slouch when it comes to performance. The tried and tested Motor is the fastest to 60 MPH and to the Quarter Mile as well. This is even astounding considering the fact that this engine has not seen much changes from its previous iteration and still uses a cast-iron block.
Which is better to mitigate heat and aid in the heavy-duty operation of the motor without offering much strain to the other components.

Ride and Handling
The Silverado 3500HD was the best driving Heavy Duty truck in its class and the 2020 version continues to be the same. No Pickup Truck in this segment can claim to glide over potholes or sail effortlessly through smooth surfaces and the Chevy is no different either. The Silverado, however, manages to provide a more compliant ride over smooth surfaces with great stability at high speed.
It’s over Potholes, undulations and rough surfaces where the Chevy struggles a bit but is still ahead of the competition in overall comfort. The cabin is well insulated from the outside and very less road and tire noise manage to creep inside the cabin. The Electrically Assisted Power Steering is Light at low speeds and weighs up well at high speeds hence offering good high-speed stability.
Braking
The 2020 Silverado on sale in the US comes with some good equipment on offer. While no official figures are available to us as of now on the 60-0 distances we expect them to be on par with the rest of the segment rivals of the Chevy.

The Corrosion-resistant Duralife Brake Rotors have Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (FNC) technology in them to help resist rust and increase rotor life. These translate to good real-world braking performance and better heat dissipation during hard braking.
Towing Capacity
The Silverado offers one of the best towing capacities in the segment. Its potent 6.6L turbo diesel motor ensures hauling heavy loads over long distances is effortless and easy. There is very little drop in power and the refined motor makes pulling the vehicle through distances a relatively easy task.

The EPA doesn’t actually give out ratings for the MPG figures of trucks like the Silverado. To say the least, though, these trucks aren’t for the people who are most concerned with MPG figures or mileage figures.
Our research, however, from various sources and user reviews suggests a 12 MPG in the city and 17 MPG on the Highway Mileage Figures for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD irrespective of the engine chosen which is decent for a truck of this size.
The Chevy Silverado Regular Cab has a captain Seat arrangement on the front or a bench set up for seating 2/3 people respectively. Seating is very comfortable across all trims of the truck. The overall interior finishing of the truck is good and does add to the overall premium feel of the truck.

The seats are well-padded and offer great comfort during long trips. You also get driver and passenger assist handles on the A-Pillars for added support while doing high speeds or tackling bumpy roads.
Infotainment System
The infotainment system inside the 2020 Chevy Silverado regular cab feels like the ones present in Chevrolet’s other sedans. The base Trim WT gets the 7” MyLink infotainment System from Chevrolet replacing the 4.5” system from last year. The LT gets an 8” system and offers connectivity to the phone via Bluetooth or via USB. Some of the other features include
Cargo Volume
The Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD regular cab has one of its strong points in the cargo space area. There is space for keeping suitcases ad trolley bags and some small bags in the cargo area. Space itself is lower than the Ford F-350 but is bigger than other rivals.

In the first look itself, don’t get intimidated by the Big Silverado. The Silverado HD 3500 is a huge truck from all angles and the big grill adds to the stance. The Silverado is one of the longest in its class and is among the widest in class. This gives it good space in Cargo Area and the rear deck.

Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Regular Cab vs. GMC Sierra 3500HD
One of the main rivals to the Silverado comes in the form of its sibling. The GMC Sierra is the Sister Truck from GM and there are not a lot of differences when it comes to comparing both the Trucks. Both the Trucks have the same dimensions in both the Interiors and the Exteriors.
They both share the same Powertrain and Platform and have similar warranties under their belt. The only way we can differentiate these trucks is in the way they look. The Chevy has a more intimidating and muscular look but the GMC is a bit toned down (dare we say this). So it’s up to you to decide if you want the muscular flamboyance of the Chevy or the relatively “Subdued” looks of the GMC.
Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Regular Cab vs. RAM 3500 Tradesman Regular Cab
RAM has done well in recent years to up its game and gives a great competition to its rivals. The RAM 3500 is a good example of the same. Priced around $3,000 less than the Chevy, the RAM offers a lot for the price. For the utility point of view though, there are areas where the Chevy Silverado outruns the RAM Tradesman.
The Chevy offers bigger Payload Capacity, has better performance figures, bigger dimensions, and a better infotainment system as well. So for us, it’s the Chevy that we will be betting on.
Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Regular Cab vs. Ford F-350 Regular Cab
The Ford “F” series of Trucks have been known to be a worldwide bestseller for their great looks, good build quality, and usability. In 2020 though, GM has taken the game up with its Silverado series of trucks. The Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD has a big Payload Capacity, more interior space for the passengers and a better performing engine.
We feel that the $2,000 price difference between the Ford and the Chevy is worth paying for as the Chevy is a better package in terms of Utility and Built that it offers.
Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Regular Cab is one of the Best Selling Pickup trucks in the segment and there are reasons for the same. The Truck has good build quality, super intuitive Music System which is very easy to use, Super Quiet Cabin and great Towing and Hauling Facilities.
If you are in the market and want a Great Truck that can “Do it All” for, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD Regular Cab is one Truck that deserves your Strong Attention.
