Every step up the trim ladder will only add more features. The fully-loaded Avenir trim gets satellite navigation, a dual-clutch shifter with the AWD configuration, a power moonroof, lumbar support for the front seats, and a Bose premium 10 speaker audio system with an amp and a woofer along with the classic Avenir badge.

Expected Price and Release Date of the 2021 Buick Enclave

The 2021 Buick  Enclave will be available with the same trim levels as the ones found in the outgoing model. There has not been formal information from Buick, but it is expected to land somewhere around $50,000 with the basic upgrades and destination charges included.

The pricing of the 2021 Buick  Enclave is expected to be on the higher end of the spectrum, as per the features it has to offer. The top-line model of the 2021 Buick  Enclave is the Avenir which costs around $80,000 ( destination charges inclusive) and still has abundant use of cheap materials all over the car. Although the car has a balance between good chrome accents and the plastic still feels cheap and ruins the luxurious feel of the car. The cabin has leather stitched on to the dashboard and the steering which gives quite a comfortable and premium feel to the interior.

Although there has been no official word on the release of the 2021 Buick  Enclave it is expected to be launched around mid-October 2020. There could be a delay in the release of the 2021 Buick  Enclave due to the unforeseen pandemic situation. Although we can expect a late 2020 entry or an early 2021 arrival of the 2021 Buick  Enclave.

2021 Buick Enclave Engine and Performance

The 2021 Buick  Enclave is going to be an average on-road performer. With a standard 3.6 liter V6 engine which is optimized to give an output of 310 horsepower at 266 lb-ft of torque, this car would definitely have enough grunt to get it moving, but it could have been better in terms of performance. The 2021 Buick  Enclave has a 9-speed automatic transmission that is standard across the lineup and delivers smooth and effortless shifts.

2021 Buick Enclave Engine Bay

The standard drivetrain is the front-wheel-drive although you can also opt for the all-wheel-drive as well. Moving on to the actual performance of the 2021 Buick  Enclave, it is not too shabby but definitely lacks the oomph that is expected at this price point.

Compared to the competition the 2021 Buick  Enclave has performed decently in the performance section.. defeating the Acura MDX and even, in fact, the Honda Pilot. The performance of the 2021   Enclave is enhanced by the all-wheel drive and the 9-speed automatic gearbox. Overall a good performance and acceleration.

How quick is the 2021 Buick Enclave?

Moving on to the acceleration of the 2021 Buick  Enclave, the car goes from 0-60mph in just 6.5 seconds. The 2021 Buick  Enclave is really heavy. The curb weight is around 4,500 lbs. The acceleration is decent. The 2021 Buick  Enclave could have reduced some weight off the doors which are super heavy for improving their 0-60 mph time.

2021 Buick Enclave Side Angle View

Looking at the quarter-mile timings, the 2021 Buick  Enclave takes roughly 15.1 seconds. Which is very decent respect to the weight. Implying that the weight balance has been kept in mind and has been modified in such a way to improve acceleration.

The 2021 Buick  Enclave may not be the fastest one out there, but still cranks out a decent performance and gives a really plush driving experience. The 2021 Buick  Enclave has a top speed of around 155 mph which is very good in terms of the size of the car. When compared to some of its other V6 powered rivals like the Cadillac XT5, it is a smidge quicker off the line but has similar quarter-mile timings to the Caddie.

How well does the 2021 Buick Enclave brake?

The 2021 Buick Enclave will come equipped with the same ventilated disk brakes setup as seen in the outgoing model and ABS on all 4 wheels. The braking is quite efficient and can bring the Enclave to a standstill from 60mph in 134 feet. While this is not the best figure in the segment, we would like to remind you that the Enclave is the largest car in the segment and has a curb weight of 4359, which is second only to the 2020 QX60 from Infiniti

All the hardware on offer isn’t that helpful as the sheer weight of the Enclave bogs it down in the braking test. All of its competitors perform better due to their lighter curb weight. The closest in terms of braking performance is the Acura MDX while the XT-5 from Cadillac sits at the very top of the pack in terms of braking performance.

How well does the 2021 Buick Enclave Handle?

The 2021 Buick Enclave is set to receive standard 18” wheels along with the well-tuned suspension results for a very smooth and composed ride. However, the curb weight and the dampened suspension means that the Enclave loses agility and it does not enjoy being pushed into fast corners.

2021 Buick Enclave Handling

The basic all-wheel-drive system with the Essence trim helps in reducing wheel slip. The costlier Premium and Avenir trims have a sophisticated Dual-Clutch AWD system. One of these clutches can be used to shuttle power between the wheels rather than applying the brakes.

2021 Buick Enclave Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is something where the 2021 Buick  Enclave lags behind. Being a really heavy crossover SUV the fuel economy of the 2021 Buick  Enclave suffers badly. With an MPG of 17 in the city, the score is pretty low. However, on the highway, the 2021 Buick  Enclave gives you about 25 MPG which is not too decent. The combined MPG falls at a low score of 20. The 2021 Buick  Enclave is not made for very long drives.

With the all-wheel-drive, it still surprisingly manages better fuel economy than the FWD which at 19 mpg as opposed to the AWDs 20 mpg. At this price point, it would have been better to have a standard All Wheel Drive for all the trims. Without that the 2021 Buick  Enclave can be considered sub-par in terms of the fuel economy.

Let's have a look at how the competition has been speculated in terms of fuel economy. The 2021 Honda pilot gives an average of 27 MPG which is much better than that of the 2021 Buick  Enclave. Speaking of the 2021 Acura MDX which is based on the same platform as the Pilot, it manages to return an average of 22 MPG but a far better highway average of 30 MPG. The 2021 Buick  Enclave does not stand too tall in comparison with the others in its class.

2021 Buick Enclave Interior

The interior of the 2021 Buick  Enclave does have a premium look and feel. A leather coated dashboard and soft-touch material with some fake wood accents give a nice finish to the interior of the 2021 Buick  Enclave. The design is very nice and gives a fairly luxurious experience. The 2021 Buick  Enclave is a three-row midsize SUV, hence is very spacious. The door has soft-touch material as well as the dashboard. If you opt to buy the Avenir trim of the 2021 Buick  Enclave then you’ll be pleased by the chestnut leather that covers the dash.

2021 Buick Enclave Seating Layout

The seats are leather-wrapped and are heated and cooled as well. The seats of the 2021 Buick  Enclave are power-adjustable and provide a very comfortable experience. The seat is fairly padded and supported. The Enclave is a seven-seater SUV and the build quality of the interior and the center console is solid. The materials used are premium except for some hard plastics all over the cabin which take away some of the premium feel of the car. The knobs have been reduced to keep a simplified yet beautiful look. The 2021 Buick  Enclave gives the best seating experience to the front passenger as they can see the design of the cabin pretty well.

The Buick offers substantially more cargo space than many of its direct rivals which include offerings from Acura and Infinity. Only the Cadillac XT5 has more space on offer with its massive 30 cu.ft of storage on offer behind the third row.

What are the other storage spaces inside?

The 2021 Buick Encore is equipped with plenty of storage in the cabin. Apart from a huge glovebox, the central armrest for the front passengers opens up to reveal a huge compartment with USB ports.

The rear seat pockets are deep and all four doors feature huge bottle holders that can easily fit a 2L bottle. The third row also has cup holders built into the sides. The cargo bay has grocery hooks to help organize and keep things from flying around and tumbling in the boot.

2021 Buick Enclave Exterior

The exterior of the 2021 Buick  Enclave is inspired by the second-generation Buick  Enclaves. Having a traditional Buick design the 2021 Buick  Enclave comes with slightly redesigned headlamps which are made to be a little bit more aggressive and sporty. However, the 2021 Buick  Enclave does not stray away too much from the previous model. But the 2021 Buick  Enclave is a very beautiful SUV as reputed as the brand name.

2021 Buick Enclave Side View

The exterior of the 2021 Buick  Enclave is very beautiful. With somewhat sharp lines on the hood, the 2021 Buick  Enclave looks really sporty and much more modern than a conventional boxy SUV. Also, the chrome accents have been used abundantly throughout the exterior of the vehicle. The chrome linings around the windows and under the door look really amazing. The rear fascia of the car also gives a stunning appearance with the extra sporty tail lamps.

2021 Buick Enclave Competition

Buick Enclave vs Acura MDX

Both of these cars are great entrees into the midsize luxury SUV segment. The 2020 Acura MDX is ruggedly built and offers a great driving experience. The Acura, inheriting all the Honda traits, often gets great resale values. The Buick, on the other hand, reflects its all-American heritage. The well-sculpted exterior shell is matched by the spacious and comfortable interiors. The engines under the hood are similar but differ in terms of power and efficiency. If you want a fuel-efficient engine, the MDX is the car for you while if power is what you long for, opt for the Buick Enclave.

2021 Acura MDX

Buick Enclave vs Infiniti QX60

2020 Infiniti QX60 is one of the best-rounded off cars in the segment. The unconventional yet iconic shell sets it apart from the rest of the pack. The inside of the car is filled with premium materials like leather and Maple wood. The cabin is pretty spacious with comfortable seats. The Enclave is very similar in terms in terms of build and quality. However, the more powerful V6 under the hood makes this a better choice if you hit the highway often or like wandering off the road.

2021 Infiniti QX60

2021 Buick Enclave Final Verdict

If you are in the market looking for a car to move around the states with, having an excellent mileage, the 2021 Buick  Enclave is not for you. The 2021 Buick  Enclave sure has better practicality than other midsize SUVs but lacks behind in fuel economy. Performance is decent but not good enough to beat a much more premium competition at the same price range. The cabin has the use of cheap hard plastic which ruins the aesthetic of the 2021 Buick  Enclave.

Overall if you’re In the market for something which has to offer luxury and fuel economy, the 2021 Buick  Enclave is not the best for you and you can look into other alternatives. Although if you want an SUV that is very spacious and has road presence you can opt for the 2021 Buick  Enclave Avenir version, which has a lot of technological benefits over the other models. Although you may have to pay a little extra for the 2021 Buick  Enclave Avenir,  it's sure to be an upgrade over the basic models.
